Overview

The 1st Annual Keck Medicine of USC Medical Quality Symposium brings together influential leaders and experienced practitioners to explore today's challenges and insights and to share strategies and innovations in healthcare quality, patient safety and performance improvement. This is an opportunity for all health care professionals to embrace quality as a priority, engage in the study and implementation of improvement and empower all in our mission to deliver high quality, high value and culturally sensitive care.

This conference is intended for an interprofessional audience, including physicians, residents, nurses, allied health professionals and other members of the Keck Medicine of USC community.

Abstract Submission

We invite submission of abstracts that highlight the work in the following quality domains:

  • Patient Safety: Interventions that aim to prevent and reduce risks, errors and harm that occur to patients during provision of health care.
  • Clinical Quality Improvement: Quality improvement activities and interventions that seek to standardize processes and structure to reduce variation, achieve predictable results, and improve outcomes for patients, healthcare systems, and organizations.
  • Healthcare Equity & Inclusion: Providing healthcare that does not vary in quality or effectiveness due to factors such as race and ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, physical abilities, geographic location, educational background or socioeconomic status.
  • Access & Efficiency: Efficiency in healthcare achieves higher levels of performance in outcomes and outputs relative to the consumption of resources consumed. Avoiding waste of equipment, supplies, ideas, time and energy.
