This 10th Annual Southern California Kidney Symposium focuses on "The Current and Future State of Renal Replacement Therapies." This live educational activity brings together nationally and internationally recognized experts to review advances across the full spectrum of kidney replacement therapy, including dialysis, transplantation, health policy, and emerging technologies.

The program will highlight innovations in hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, including advances in membrane technology and expanded indications for extracorporeal therapies. Sessions will also explore contemporary issues in kidney transplantation, including organ allocation, living donation, long-term graft management, and xenotransplantation.

In addition, the symposium will address evolving payment models policy changes impacting kidney care delivery, including value-based care and Medicare Advantage. Finally, participants will gain insight into cutting-edge developments in kidney replacement, including regenerative medicine, stem cell therapies, and bioartificial kidney technologies.

This course is designed to provide clinicians with practical, evidence-based updates and a forward-looking perspective on the future of renal replacement therapy.

Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Compare emerging dialysis modalities, including high-flux hemodialysis, hemodiafiltration, and extended dialysis techniques.
  2. Describe recent innovations in peritoneal dialysis and their implications for patient outcomes and modality utilization.
  3. Evaluate expanded applications of extracorporeal therapies beyond kidney failure, including use in sepsis and liver failure.
  4. Review advances in kidney transplantation, including organ allocation, living donation strategies, and long-term graft management.
  5. Know the current state and future potential of xenotransplantation.
  6. Analyze the impact of evolving healthcare policies, including value-based care models and Medicare Advantage, on nephrology practice and dialysis care delivery.
  7. Identify emerging technologies in kidney replacement, including stem cell therapies and bioartificial kidney development.
