Overview

USC presents the inaugural year of the USC Diabetes Symposium.

This hybrid program, offered in person and over virtual platform, presents updates in the field of diabetes and obesity management with evidence-based medical, surgical, technological and behavioral management of these complex diseases.

Highlighted are areas of advancement including medical and surgical management of obesity, new guideline recommendations for the management of type 2 diabetes, with personalized strategies for each patient, optimal use of technology in the care of patients with diabetes, and cardiovascular risk reduction in patients with diabetes.

Presentations from experts in the fields of diabetes, obesity, bariatric and transplant surgery will help inform clinical practice in the management of these complex diseases with a rapidly-evolving base of evidence.



Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

 


  1. Discuss the 2022 ADA guidelines for the management of type 2 diabetes
  2. Understand the pathogenesis of obesity and its complications
  3. Develop personalized management plans for patients with type 2 diabetes
  4. Identify candidates for surgical management of obesity and diabetes
  5. Recognize lifestyle management techniques that have proven benefit in patients with diabetes
  6. Identify patients that would benefit from the addition of diabetes technology
  7. Discuss strategies for lowering cardiovascular risk in patients with type 2 diabetes

Accreditation
The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California designates this Live Activity activity for a maximum of 5.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be received by the USC Office of CME (fax or email) only by October 19, 2022, 12:00 pm PDT for a refund. A $50 cancellation fee will be applied after October 19. In the event of course cancellation by conference organizers, all registration fees will be fully refunded. USC will not refund any travel costs incurred.
