Overview
Hypertension in pregnancy is ostensibly one of the most serious complications of childbirth. By examining medical literature and using evidence-based guidelines, this program will provide a clinical update. Intrapartum fetal heart rate monitoring is ubiquitous in obstetric practice. Applying principals of patient safety, standardization, and evidence-based approaches to this important tool reduces errors and improves outcome. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) has identified the need for practitioners throughout the United States to adopt consistent standards for intrapartum heart rate monitoring terminology, interpretation and management. This program will employ evidence-based guidelines and standardized safety principals to highlight a safer and easier approach to the definition, interpretation, and management of intrapartum fetal heart rate monitoring. Various other conditions, such as fetal structural and genetic conditions and disparities in maternal health can complicate patient management.  This program will provide important clinical tenets and guidelines for management of patients with these important conditions.  In addition, asthma, fetal growth restriction, and substance abuse in pregnancy and the perinatal period have become increasingly prevalent.  This program will provide examine the evidence and set forth a practical clinical approach.  Finally, the program will also provide valuable insights into health care provider wellness.
