Deep Brain Stimulation: A Clinical Overview, Live Demonstration, and Mini Symposium

Our DBS program is designed for healthcare professionals who manage the care of patients with movement disorders, epilepsy and psychiatric disorders. This one-day course provides an overview of deep brain stimulation, including patient selection criteria, medical management and optimization of therapy prior to DBS surgery, operative techniques, and post-operative programming. This course will described and demonstrate complete patient workup and workflow through a comprehensive DBS center. Participants will attend a series of interactive lectures by expert USC faculty and invited speakers along with a case presentations. Participants can attain and integrate new, practical information into their clinical practice on managing and improving outcomes in patients with movement disorders, epilepsy, and psychiatric disorders.

1. Identify when to refer patients to a deep brain stimulator program.
2. Assess if their patient is a good candidate for DBS surgery workup.
3. Discuss deep brain stimulator as a treatment option for movement disorder, epilepsy and psychiatric patients

The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California designates this Live Activity activity for a maximum of 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

 

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be received by the USC Office of CME by email only by May 9, 2023 at 12:00 pm PDT for a refund. A $50 cancellation fee will be applied. In the event of course cancellation by conference organizers, all registration fees will be fully refunded. USC will not refund any travel costs incurred.
