This course is designed especially for internists, family physicians, generalist physicians and allied health professionals who care for adults. This four-day course provides participants with a series of interactive lectures by USC faculty experts spanning a wide array of contemporary and important topics for primary care practitioners and special, more intimate, roundtables in which participants engage our faculty experts with questions arising from their own practices.

Lecture presenters use an anonymous electronic audience response system (ARS) to promote active learning among participants and to enable group reflections on case studies and challenging clinical questions in real time. Participants will be able to attain new and practical knowledge for integration into their clinical practices to improve patient care and patient outcomes.

1. • Apply up-to-date evidence to diagnose and manage obesity, prescribe GLP-1 agonists, use fasting and fasting mimetic strategies in practice, and to diagnose and manage malnutrition in the elderly.
2. • Apply current guidelines to use and interpret stress testing in primary care and to prevent, diagnose and treat dyslipidemia of Lipoprotein(a) and atrial fibrillation.
3. • Discuss up-to-date advances in endoscopy in gastroenterology and apply and interpret endoscopic screening tests for colon cancer and screening, diagnostic and treatment approaches for GERD and Barrett’s esophagus.
4. • Apply diagnostic and treatment strategies in hearing loss, tinnitus, dizziness and ear-related issues in primary care.
5. • Apply the latest evidence in the management of iron deficiency, erythrocytosis and clonal cytopenia of undetermined significance.
6. • Apply the latest evidence to prevent and manage COVID-19, choose empiric antibiotic therapies and vaccinate adults.
7. • Interpret diagnostic tests and determine treatment approaches for rheumatologic problems in primary care and specialty practices: use of biologics, SLE, rheumatoid arthritis, vasculitis, spondyloarthropathies, scleroderma, sports injuries, Sjogren’s, gout, and osteoarthritis.

The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California designates this Live Activity activity for a maximum of 21.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and approved by Keck School of Medicine of USC. You may claim a maximum of 21.25 hours.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be received by the USC Office of CME by email only by March 10, 2025 for a refund. A $50 cancellation fee will be applied. In the event of course cancellation by conference organizers, all registration fees will be fully refunded. USC will not refund any travel costs incurred.

Travel Dates: Arrival Saturday, March 22 or Sunday, March 23, check-out Friday, March 28, 2025. Rooms may be reserved at the group rate 3 days before and after the main dates, subject to availability.
A discounted resort fee of $20 per night plus tax (usually $45) is not included in the rates shown above. This covers a number of services such as Internet, fitness center admission and resort shuttles. Group members reserving at the official group rates are also entitled to $20 plus tax discounted overnight self-parking, usually $30 per day. 
Tax of 17.96% not included and will be added to your room charges. Rates are for one or two adults. Additional adults age 18 and over are charged $50 per night. Maximum occupancy is 4 per room. Children 18 and under are free.
