Overview
Our Deep Brain Stimulation program is designed for healthcare professionals who manage the care of patients with movement disorders, epilepsy, and psychiatric disorders. This one-day course provides an overview of deep brain stimulation, including patient selection criteria, medical management, operative techniques, and post-operative programming, and emerging research. Attendees will participate in a series of interactive lectures by expert USC faculty and invited speakers, along with case presentations. Participants can attain and integrate new, practical information into their clinical practice on managing and improving outcomes in patients with movement disorders, epilepsy, and psychiatric disorders.

Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. • Identify when to refer patients to a deep brain stimulator program.
  2. • Assess if their patient is qualified for DBS surgery workup.
  3. • Discuss deep brain stimulator as a treatment option for movement disorders, epilepsy, and psychiatric patients.
  4. • Outline the surgical workup for deep brain stimulation surgery.

Accreditation
The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California designates this Live Activity activity for a maximum of 4.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be received by the USC Office of CME by email only by October 15, 2024 at 12:00 pm PDT for a refund. A $50 cancellation fee will be applied. In the event of course cancellation by conference organizers, all registration fees will be fully refunded. USC will not refund any travel costs incurred.
