Overview
The USC Diabetes Symposium returns for its 3rd year, continuing to provide exciting updates in the care of people with diabetes, as well as the accompanying complications and comorbidities.
This hybrid program, offered in person and over a virtual platform, presents updates in the field of diabetes and obesity management from experts in a variety of fields.
Highlighted are areas of advancement in both the management of diabetes and its comorbidities. Experts will discuss recent updates in management strategies throughout the spectrum of components of diabetes care, including discussions of challenging cases and audience questions to inform clinical decision making in this complex disease.

Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify benefits of cardio and renal protective medications for people with diabetes and obesity.
  2. Assess individuals for metabolic associated steatotic liver disease and advise appropriate therapy.
  3. Optimize treatment of obesity in the context of diabetes.
  4. Integrate strategies for diabetes remission.
  5. Identify individuals who would benefit from multidisciplinary foot care.
  6. Safely adjust diabetes medications before surgery.
  7. Integrate diabetes technology into diabetes treatment plans.

Accreditation
The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California designates this Live Activity activity for a maximum of 5.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be received by the USC Office of CME by email only by September 17, 2024 at 12:00 pm PDT for a refund. A $50 cancellation fee will be applied. In the event of course cancellation by conference organizers, all registration fees will be fully refunded. USC will not refund any travel costs incurred.
