Overview
A one-day meeting designed to educate clinicians, nurses, healthcare providers, residents and students about the complex interactions that lead to MS and advances in the management of patients with the disease. A growing body of strong evidence has led to a consensus recommending the initiation of a Disease Modifying Therapy (DMT) for patients with a relapsing or active MS and those with clinically isolated syndrome at high risk of developing MS. Multiple highly effective DMTs, particularly anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies, have emerged in the past decade, transforming the landscape of multiple sclerosis treatment. Various recommendations and practice guidelines addressing the use of DMTs in MS have been developed by neurological associations, including the American Academy of Neurology, and the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis. The comprehensive care of patients with MS should include strategies to improve symptom management and quality of life. Therefore, it is crucial to implement local expert recommendations for the use of DMT and the management of adverse events in clinical practice. The goal of this CME activity is to provide a bridge between current and emerging understanding of MS to the attendees.

Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a higher understanding on the epidemiological changes in MS.
  2. Apply the diagnostic criteria for MS and related disorders with greater confidence.
  3. Integrate various treatment strategies.

Accreditation
The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California designates this Live Activity activity for a maximum of 4.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
