Overview
This course presents an update of major advances in the diagnosis and treatment of headache disorders, neuralgia with emphasis on multidisciplinary team care and special populations including pediatrics, pregnancy, and post-concussive disorders. The first session highlights the current trends in management of migraine headaches. The second session describes the USC multidisciplinary team approach for treating challenging headache cases which includes occupational therapy, physical therapy, advanced care practitioners and pain psychology. The third session tackles neuralgias and uncommon headache disorders and the fourth session reviews the headaches in special populations including pediatric headaches and headaches relating to pregnancy and headaches in the setting of trauma or concussion. Each section of the program concludes with a question and answer session. It is structured to be highly interactive, including case presentations, panel discussions and question and answer sessions. 

Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the pathophysiology of various headache disorders and neuralgias.
  2. Discuss the use of multidisciplinary teams in the treatment of refractory headaches.
  3. Delineate the diagnosis and care of uncommon headache disorders.
  4. Classify the management of headaches in pediatrics, pregnancy and special populations.
  5. Characterize the treatment of post-concussive headaches.
  6. Administer the management of headaches related to TMD disorders.

Accreditation
The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Cancellations must be received by the USC Office of CME (by email only) by May 2, 2023 at 12:00 pm, PDT, for a refund. A $50 cancellation will be applied for requests received after May 2. In the event of course cancellation by conference organizers, all registration fees will be fully refunded. USC will not refund any travel costs incurred.
