The 2022 USC International Spine and Rheumatology Symposium is a course designed to provide innovative information to clinical practitioners regarding the management of spinal disorders and common rheumatological conditions that can affect the spine. Topics covered include the natural history of various spinal disorders; the diagnostic workup and imaging of spinal diseases; medical as well as surgical treatment of commonly encountered spinal diseases in the clinical setting; and the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and osteoporosis. The role of imaging of these disorders will also be reviewed. The educational format includes a series of didactic lectures, case studies, group discussions and question and answer sessions, allowing participants to enhance their understanding of diagnosing spinal disorders and rheumatological conditions to improve their clinical practices and patient care.



Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify appropriate workup, diagnostic options and imaging modalities for cervical, thoracic and lumbar spinal disorders.
  2. Examine non-surgical management and medical treatment options for spinal diseases including advanced interventional techniques.
  3. Assess the data and efficacy of surgical treatment of various spinal disorders.
  4. Analyze new and novel treatment in rheumatic disorders.
  5. Discuss current guidelines in treating rheumatic disorders.
  6. Differentiate on a clinical basis from over 150 types of arthritis.
  7. Distinguish the pathophysiology of RA, SLE, gout, psoriatic arthritis and AS.
  8. Review new developments in the field of osteoporosis.

Accreditation
The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California designates this Live Activity activity for a maximum of 31.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Cancellation Policy

COVID-19 guidelines by the Centers for Disease Control, Los Angeles County and the University of Southern California will be strictly observed. If live attendance is discouraged as conference date approaches, registrants will receive a full refund. USC will not refund any travel costs incurred.

Registration cancellations not connected with COVID-19 must be emailed to the USC Office of CME by May 27, 2022 for a refund to be issued. A $50 cancellation fee will be applied. USC will not refund any travel costs incurred.
