Overview

The Annual USC National Trauma, Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery Symposium is presented by the Division of Acute Care Surgery of Keck USC and the Los Angeles General Medical Center, one of the largest trauma centers in the United States. The symposium features timely topics for lectures, high-caliber plenary sessions, interactive and provocative panel discussions, and inspiring keynote addresses by leaders in the field of acute care surgery, trauma and surgical critical care. A balance between evidence-based principles and innovative thought-provoking discussion will be maintained throughout the program. Each session focuses on understanding leading-edge management, benefit of trauma systems, latest medical controversies and the implementation of trauma programs.


Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Outline optimal care in the prehospital and emergency room setting.
  2. Integrate new technology and devices for monitoring and treatment in trauma and critical care.
  3. Plan an evidence-based approach to current controversies in trauma, acute care surgery and critical care patient management.
  4. Integrate new temporizing and definitive management options for complex surgical disease.
  5. Discuss the importance of organ donation.
  6. Understand the QI process and how it improves practice.
  7. Integrate wellness considerations for the provider.
  8. Advocate for preventative trauma.
  9. Support programs for post-trauma patients.

Accreditation
The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Cancellation Policy 

Registration cancellations must be emailed to the USC Office of CME by May 15, 2026 at 12pm PDT, for a refund of tuition to be issued. A $50 cancellation fee will be applied. In the event of course cancellation by conference organizers, all registration fees will be fully refunded. USC will not refund any travel costs incurred.

Valet parking is discounted $24 daily maximum and self-parking is $19 daily maximum. Parking rates are subject to change because parking is managed by the city of Pasadena.
